Before each practice session be sure to stretch for five to ten minutes, especially the lower back, legs, and shoulders.

This year let's stay committed to a "practice plan". Put the drivers away and work on shots from 100 yards and in. After all, this is where we score. Do not be in a rush to hit that large bucket of balls. I would rather see you hit a small bucket and go through your pre shot routine on every shot, as if you were playing on the golf course. Trust your swing and yourself!

FREE Women's Core Fitness Clinic

GOLF & LIFE Lessons

Even Pros need a tune up every now and then. After all Tiger Woods has a full time swing coach. Golf Fanatic had 13 year LPGA Veteran, Nancy Capps look at his swing a few weeks ago. Nancy has a great eye and the ability to simplify the golf swing with words. Nancy is a golf instructor at Olde Sycamore Golf Course.

My golf instructor and friend, Mr. Bob Mayer is in cold upstate/Central NY. Mr. Mayer has helped guide me through the mysteries of golf and life.

The cool wintry weather is finally here in the Carolinas. This is a perfect time to get those clubs regripped, reshafted, refurbished. Do not wait until Spring! Check your grips for signs wear. Do not forget to have the grips properly sized by Golf Fanatic when you replace them. In addition, check your shafts for rust and dents. Dents weaken the shaft structure causing a breakage and personal injury. These shafts should be replaced immediately.

Certifications for Golf Fanatic:

Currently, I am working toward achieving the coveted "Class A" Clubmaker Certification through the Professional Clubmakers Society (http://www.proclubmakers.org/). The written portion (Part 1) contains 300 questions pertaining to clubbuilding, fitting, and the rules of golf. Part 1 is due on the 23 of February 2007. After the written protion is passed, the skills (Part 2) portion will be distributed. Part 2 will consist of building 5 different clubs to exact specifications.

In addition, I am seeking the Level III - USGTF Full Certification: Professional Golf Teachers Training through the United States Golf Teachers Federation (USGTF).(www.usgtf.com) The written (rules) and oral (teaching) certification process will take place March 31 through April 3rd, 2007 at Wachesaw Plantation East in Murrels Inlet, SC.

In addition, I have already passed Players Ability Test (P.A.T.) through the P.G.A. of America on June 25, 1997 at Lake Valley Golf Club, which is in Longmont, Colorado. I had a total score of 80 + 70 = 150 with a target score being 151, successfully passing and fulfilling the P.A.T. for the USGTF.

Golf Lessons

GOLF FANATIC will be teaching at the Albemarle Driving Range through the end of April. The Presbyterian Hospital is going to be building on the property where the range is located. Owner, Mr. Terry Blythe and Manager, Deborah Foster would like to THANK everyone for their continued support and business. The range will be having a "Going OUT of Business Sale" between now and the end of April.
